About Fortress Masonry Contractors NYC

Licensed masonry contractors based in the Bronx, serving Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan since 2004. Over 1,700 projects completed. Every permit handled in-house.

A Masonry Company Built on Knowing NYC Inside Out

Fortress Masonry Contractors NYC has been repairing, restoring, and preserving NYC brick buildings since 2004. We are based at 2567 Lurting Ave in the Bronx — which means we know the Bronx building stock as well as any contractor in the city. But we work every day across Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan as well.

Our work is exclusively commercial and residential masonry in New York City. We do not take jobs outside the four boroughs we serve. That focus means our crew knows the specific permit requirements for every borough, the particular characteristics of pre-war brick construction in every neighborhood, and the LPC landmark district rules that apply to properties in Brooklyn Heights, Bed-Stuy, Harlem, and dozens of other designated areas.

The thing that differentiates us most from other masonry contractors is our permit operation. We handle DOT, NYC Parks tree permits, LPC, DOB, MTA, and 811 utility tickets entirely in-house — you never contact any city agency at any point in the process. Most masonry contractors hand you a list of permits to figure out yourself. We don't.

How We Work — Non-Negotiables

Correct Mortar Type — Always

We never use Portland cement on pre-war soft brick buildings. We assess every building's age and specify the correct mortar — NHL lime for pre-1930, Type O or N Portland-lime for mid-century, Type S for structural applications.

All Permits Before Any Work Starts

Not a single tool touches your property before all required permits are in hand. This protects you from stop-work orders, fines, and unapproved work that could complicate future sales or insurance claims.

Conditional Pricing in Writing

If a job may require tree permits, arborist coordination, MTA engineering review, or pigmented concrete, we write the estimated cost into your proposal as a conditional item. No verbal add-ons after work starts.

50% Deposit — 50% on Completion

We collect 50% to start the project and the remaining 50% on the final day of completion. Final payment is never collected before the project is done and you have walked through the work.

Where We Work in NYC

We serve Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan exclusively. We do not serve Staten Island. Our field teams are based in the Bronx and Brooklyn, with crews dispatched daily across all four boroughs.

🚫 We do not serve Staten Island. If you are located outside the four boroughs listed above and can secure all local permits independently, contact us and we will evaluate your project individually.
